A variety of new preventive measures to help Japan’s rapidly aging population avoid illness recently went on display at the ME-BYO exposition in Yokohama. Among the technologies was a smartphone application called Mind Monitoring Systems – Mimosys for short. The app (inset) is designed to track a user’s emotions and state of mind throughout the day using voice measurements. Another device on display was the Flowsky toilet (left)which acts as a gadget to measure urine flow rates and analyse health. Other exhibitors focused on helping the physically challenged walk and work more easily, with robot suits, such as the HAL device on the right.
