Exploring Language and Literature in New Normal
Virtual session on “Exploring Language and Literature in New Normal” has been organized by the department of English Language and Literature at the University of Creative Technology, Chittagong. In the virtual session II, Alam Khorshed, a renowned translator, has taken the session “Creative translation: no easy way out” with the students of Dept. of ELL of UCTC on 21st July 2020. Alam Khorshed (B.1960), graduated as a Mechanical Engineer with a Bachelor’s degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka, and did his Post Graduate studies at Baruch College of the City University of New York, USA majoring in Operations Research. After working for nearly fifteen years, he has given up Engineering as a profession and returned to Bangladesh in 2004 to embrace his real passion: Arts. He is now engaged as a full-time writer, translator, critic, cultural activist, and arts organizer. After successfully running a unique socio-cultural organization named Bishaud Bangla in Chittagong for nine years, he founded a new art space called Bistaar: Chittagong Arts Complex in December 2014 and has been working as its Founding Director since. He speaks English and French fluently, knows functional Spanish and has authored more than twenty books in Bengali, mostly works of translation and literary essays. The session was conducted on zoom.
